The Lion King. Justin Bieber. Reel 2 Real’s hit song, I Like to Move It. R.O.C.K.

What do all of these things have in common? They’re all 25 years old!

Real Options for City Kids was founded by Michelle Groe in 1994, so we’re celebrating our 25th Anniversary throughout September and beyond. We have a lot going on over the next several months—keep reading to learn how you can get involved and help us celebrate 25 incredible years!

Stories that R.O.C.K.

We recently launched our Stories that R.O.C.K. campaign—a series of short videos highlighting R.O.C.K. alumni, staff, and supporters. These videos bring stories of R.O.C.K.’s impact to life through first-hand narratives. We kicked off the campaign the first week of September and will continue to release new videos over the coming months. Don’t miss a single story; make sure you’re following along with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube. If you have a story you’d...

The Early Years of R.O.C.K.

An interview with the visionary behind Real Options for City Kids, Michelle Groe

By Hayley Walker, Marketing & Development Coordinator

HW: Michelle, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me. I have...

By Hayley Walker, Marketing & Development Coordinator

While I’m not new to the nonprofit sector or to youth sport programs, I am fairly new to the Visitacion Valley community. Over the past several months, I have made it a priority to get to know our community, our participants, and the schools we serve. Every community or neighborhood is unique, and Vis Valley is beautifully so. Filming the interviews of...

25th Anniversary Community Play Day – Saturday, October 5th
In celebration of R.O.C.K.’s 25 years, our annual fall Play Day is going to be bigger and better than ever. Stop by Visitacion Valley Middle School between 10:00am-2:00pm on Saturday, October 5th for a barbecue, inflatables, raffle prizes, a parade of wheels, video game truck, and more! We’re also excited to host an alumni kickball game, and R.O.C.K.’s Executive Director, Curt Yagi, will be saying a few words about our 25th Anniversary. You don’t want to miss this fun, free community event.

25 Years of R.O.C.K. Fundraising Campaign
We couldn’t do this important work without the support of our many generous donors over the past two and a half decades. We’ve launched a fundraising campaign to help ensure that we’re able to continuously improve our programs and support our community for many years to come. Please consider making a contribution to help us better serve the children and families of Visitacion Valley.

If you contribute $25 or more to our 25 Years of R.O.C.K. Campaign, you’ll be entered in a drawing for a chance to win a pair of round-trip Alaska Airlines flight vouchers—a $2,500 value! A huge thank you to our partners at Alaska for making this possible.
