Building Community with R.O.C.K.

 

R.O.C.K.'s summer is off to a great start! Once school ended, we immediately welcomed this wonderful season with a trip to Mountain Camp, launching us into the six-week summer program focused on literacy, health and recreation. We established promising partnerships with two exceptional Bay Area companies whose generosity continues to fuel the betterment of our children--and we can't wait to see what happens next!



 
 
 
 
 



R.O.C.K. Kids Experience the 23rd Annual Lil’ Kid Camp

Nicole, a fifth grader who was notoriously quiet and shy at school, was climbing a R.O.C.K. wall nestled in the outdoor playground of Mountain Camp. As she neared the toughest part--known as the crux--her hand slipped and she told her belayer below that she might have to stop. She wasn’t sure if she could make it.

Suddenly, with a burst of courage, she shouted, “Wait! I think I can do it!” and just like that, Nicole swooped her left leg around the protruding part of the wall that was daring her to give up--and hoisted herself up to the next hold with such a force that she propelled her way to the top.

William Blair Spreads Philanthropic Mission to R.O.C.K.

William Blair and Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K.) have teamed up after William Blair selected R.O.C.K. as their first Bay Area charity partner. The investment banking firm based in Chicago chose the small nonprofit as part of its philanthropic mission to give back locally. With a longtime history of being committed as a long-term partner to the communities in which we live and work, R.O.C.K. was the perfect fit as the leading after-school program provider in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley for over 23 years.

Cocktails for a Cause - Thursday, August 16th from 6-9pm at Bullitt (2209 Polk St, San Francisco)

This energizing event will expose you to many Bay Area professionals in an informal setting with the added benefit of prizes to shake things up.

Cocktails for a Cause is a guest bartending event featuring a silent auction and raffle, aimed to build community and help you grow your professional network with like-minded individuals.
